Preparing for Typhoons
- Ensure cables are not sagging or touching tree branches.
- Make sure the gutters are not blocked.
- Make sure gasoline and other fuels in barns and storerooms are not leaking.
- Store emergency foods and plenty of water.
- Keep spare batteries, transistor radios and flashlights at the ready in case of power failures
- Put emergency items to be taken with you in an easily accessible place.
- TV antennae should be reinforced with splints and wire.
- Reinforce the chimney and inspect tin roofs.
- Move furniture and electrical goods to a higher place.
- Stay indoors as much as possible and pay particular attention to weather forecasts.
- Bring items such as flower pots and clothes poles into the house to prevent them from being blown away.
- Make sure tree branches are not at risk of falling down.
- Reinforce window panes with planks to prevent them from being shattered.
- Check for cracks on the building blocks.
- Improve drainage around the outside of house in cooperation with your neighbors.
Use weather broadcasts as a lifeline in times of weather emergency
- Prepare for electrical power failures.
Keep transistor radios, batteries, and a flashlight at the ready. - Listen to disaster information broadcasts.
Keep volume of TV down to make sure you can hear emergency announcements. - Always be prepared.
Get emergency items prepared before hand. - React promptly
Take particular care in such areas as slopes or cliffs.
React promptly when evacuation is advised.
How to Evacuate In Case of Flood
- Secure an exit
- Turn off all heaters, and stoves and gas heaters
- Put out any fire you may notice
