A Great Success---Fukushima Global Citizen’s Festival 2007

The biggest international event in Fukushima, Fukushima Global Citizen’s Festival, was held again at Big Palette, Koriyama. This year, it attracted 4,500 people in and around Fukushima prefecture. With approximately 500 staff and volunteers in participating and running the event, it made an amazing number of 5000 in total!!!

The festival introduced some local NPOs that are actively promoting international exchange and cooperation. There were quizzes on different countries, face painting, introduction of each organization’s activities, craft making, goods selling, etc. At the World Restaurant Corner, Korean, Thai, German, Chinese, Rwandan, Ethiopian, American, Indian, Japanese, Mexican and Pakistani cuisines could all be tasted at an affordable price. Last but not least, stage performance attracted a huge crowd of audience all day long. Performances such as national/ethnic costume fashion show and Hula Dance brought a climax onto the stage.
