About Us

The Fukushima International Association was founded in November, 1988 by the public and private sectors of Fukushima to be the centre of international exchange in the Prefecture. Our aim is to promote international understanding and foster strong relationships between the citizens of Fukushima Prefecture and the rest of the international community.

We maintain a drop-in lounge where guests can browse our extensive library of English and Japanese books, read English newspapers or get up-to-date with what's going on at home via our satellite TV. The lounge also features three public computer terminals, where FIA guests can surf the web or check their e-mail at no charge.

Our lounge and information facilities are available to the public free of charge. We do, however, receive a large portion of our funding from private sources. If you are able to assist us by purchasing a yearly FIA membership (only 3000 Yen), your support would be welcomed and appreciated!

Our Mission Statement
